Domingos y festivos de 9:00 a 15:00 horas. Verano (de abril a septiembre) De lunes a sábado de 9:30 a 19:00 horas. Domingos y festivos de 9:00 a 16:00 horas. Tarifas* Entrada libre. Cómo llegar Metro: Línea 1, estación Atocha-Renfe. Autobús: Líneas 10, 14, 24, 26, 32, 37, 54, 57, 140, 141 y Circular.

El Panteón constituye el claustro de lo que iba a ser el templo de la Corte: la nueva Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Atocha. Su construcción fue impulsada por la Reina Regente Doña María Cristina de Habsburgo. Su construcción se adjudicó al arquitecto Fernando Arbós y Tremanti (1840-1926),. Las obras empezaron en 1892. El conjunto monumental se completo después de la Guerra Civil (1936-39) con la construcción de la Basílica de Nuestra de Atocha (1951) para sustituir la antigua iglesia que había sido destruida durante la contienda.

El Panteón de Hombres Ilustres, junto a la Basílica de Atocha, es un Monumento de estilo neobizantino, construido entre 1892 y 1899 por obra del arquitecto Fernando Arbós y Tremanti. En su interior se encuentran los sepulcros de personalidades de la vida política de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, que han sido labrados por importantes escultores como Mariano Benlliure, Agustín Querol o Arturo Mélida, Pedro Estany y Federico Aparici.
